What a closed-loop work order looks like
A digital order carries its context: the asset and its history, the procedure, the parts reserved, the safety steps. As work happens, status updates live, no walking the floor to ask. At completion, the loop closes: asset history grows, parts decrement from inventory, actual time feeds the next estimate, and recurring issues become visible as patterns instead of anecdotes.
The three loops paper cannot close
- History: the fifth repair of the same bearing looks like the first when records live in a drawer. Digital history makes the pattern undeniable, and drives the move from breakdown work to prediction.
- Inventory: parts walk out of the crib against paper orders and the count drifts until someone reconciles it. Digital consumption keeps truth continuous.

Start with recurring orders, PMs and standard runs, because they template cleanly and the win shows in weeks. Keep the form the crew knows, just faster.
