Labor Requirement (Staffing) Calculator

Size your crew to customer demand: takt time, operators needed, and how busy they will actually be. Your numbers stay in your browser.

How this is calculated

Staffing to demand starts with takt time, the pace the customer sets, then compares the total manual work your demand requires against the time one operator actually has.

takt time (sec/unit) = available minutes × 60 ÷ daily demand
total manual content (sec) = daily demand × manual cycle time
operators needed = total manual content ÷ (available minutes × 60), rounded up
crew utilization = total manual content ÷ (operators × available minutes × 60) × 100

Reading it well

Demand pace only helps if the line can hold it; check equipment losses with the OEE calculation guide, see how staffing fits the bigger flow picture in the lean manufacturing guide, or connect pace to inventory with the WIP and Little's Law calculator.

Staff to real demand, not last month's average

Harmony connects your machines, systems, and paperwork into one real-time operational layer, no rip-and-replace, so takt, actual pace, and crew loading are visible on the floor as they happen. Read the CLS case study.
